Sofie's Skin care routine

Finally the weekend and hopefully less stressful schedules for most? I like to see the weekend as a time to recharge and if you wish, time for more peace and recovery.

Based on my previous post about the concept of Natural Skincare, I now thought I would take the opportunity to give you my skin care routine. At the moment, i.e. right now when I am 33 weeks pregnant, I have completely opted out of active ingredients such as acids and vitamin A, because you are more likely to get pigment changes during pregnancy.

Here are my daily companions:

  1. Gentle Everyday Cleanser, TAHNYC SEK 329, 120 ml
  2. A good face mist , right now I'm using: Rose + Neroli, Hydra-Vitalizing Treatment Mist from Odacité, SEK 460, 50 ml
  3. Restore Nurture Crystal Hydrate, Restore & Deeply Repair, TAHNYC , SEK 849, 30 ml. Available in smaller size from SEK 429.
  4. Lip Cure, Tromborg SEK 250, 15 ml

A simple routine.

1. Cleaning. Washing off dirt, oil and makeup from your face is essential to keeping your skin in good condition. I prefer a gentle cleansing product like maintains the skin's pH balance. When the skin has the right pH balance, you get the most out of subsequent products. The skin must therefore be kept in balance to be able to preserve the moisture barrier and give you that healthy and radiant glow. Find a cleanser that suits your skin type and massage the product into your face and neck in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and gently pat the skin dry with a clean towel.

2. Face water/Face mist. Cleansing and facial toner are like "shampoo and conditioner" they belong together, writes Johanna Lind Bagge on her blog . When I google Why use toners? then I can read the following: " Face water aims above all to restore the skin's pH value. Namely, the skin's pH value is slightly acidic and is around 5.5 on the scale. The acidic pH value protects the skin against, among other things, harmful bacteria and external stresses, but since the pH of tap water is neutral and is 7 on the scale, that balance is disturbed when you wash your face. Therefore, face water is needed, to restore the skin's normal pH". And there is more to read from that source, if you wish. Then look HERE. Personally, I mainly use face mist but sometimes when I feel I need extra cleansing, I preferably over the face with micellar water or a toner. The fact that I use face mist has to do with the fact that I use oils instead of skin cream. Moisture together with a body oil or face oil helps the oil to be absorbed into the skin more quickly. Tips for good face mists prices are: Organic rose water from MORE - SEK 249, 50 ml. and Organic lavender water from More - SEK 249, 50 ml.

3. Face cream or face oil. I choose face oil because a good oil is often "cleaner" as a product than a face cream because the face oil does not need to be preserved in the same way as a cream (because the oil does not contain water). I find many benefits to using face oils. For example. that the face oil is often more concentrated with nutrients than a face cream because the oil is not "diluted" with water. In pure oils, you also get a vitamin cocktail for the skin that strengthens and protects. The facial oil also gives, in my opinion, a more visible "antiaging effect" on the skin because vegetable fats counteract dryness wrinkles. And remember to moisturize the skin when using oils. Apply e.g. facial mist to introduce the moisture step into the routine. Feel free to use moisture both before and after you apply your facial oil. There are lots of lovely face oils to choose from, try your way to find your favourite. At Stella&Zoe we have e.g. brands like TAHNYC (more expensive brand) and MORE (lower price range) both of which have lovely oils for the face that can cater to many different skin care needs. For example: Gold Cell , Restore , Soothe , Pure Organic Rosehip Seed Oil , Pure Organic Argan Oil and Pure Organic Jojoba Oil

4. Lip care. I always finish off my skin care routine before going to bed by moisturizing my lips as well. It's so nice to wake up with moisturized and soft lips. My absolute favorite product that has followed me for several years is Lip Cure from Danish Tromborg. Tromborg has fantastic products with a focus on content.
